As someone who needs steady camera shots to do CGI based motion tracking and modeling, stabilization rigs are my best friend.
ReplyDeleteWell, this will set you back 15k, though judging from the results, its worth it. But this rig is more than just a stabilizer. It allows a second person to control the precise camera movement remotely, and more significantly, it logs movement data like a motion control system using it's built in accelerometer. It also logs GPS location, Temperature, altitude, and of course syncs all this data with the video using timecode, making post production workflow a lot smother, and, when compelled with a tool like mocha to build the rest of the 3D environment, removing the need for any manual motion tracking.
